| In 1999 I was given a thirty-five year old Nikon camera and four simple lenses that were used by my Great Aunt Edna and her husband Wynn Bullock in their photographic work. As I learned the basics of camera use I began to take a camera with me on hikes and expeditions, and now photography is an integral part of my life. The images displayed here have been selected to illustrate my travels as well as my personal journey as a photographer. |
| In a larger sense, each image is also an illustration of a journey, over time scales ranging from the geological and glacial, to a moment in the ebb and flow of the tide. Each rock and tree, each drop of water and blade of grass, has been on a “long strange trip” to arrive at a moment where they could share their beauty with me, and now with each of you. Poet Ric Masten reminds us that seen from a cosmic perspective, even the mountains dance. |
